Who uses it
RBAC is not a hidden menu. Dashboards, attendance columns, and APIs all follow the role. Direct URLs without permission return 403.
University-wide
Owns the campus tree, designations, and Section Admin assignments. Sees present/absent tallies, live operations, and the enterprise attendance ledger.
Department-scoped
Runs one attendance section per department. Configures shifts, rules, and employees for that department only — no cross-department writes, no org tree edits.
Reporting line
Reads and approves work for direct reports. Separate from the org tree — e.g. Assistant Professor → Professor → Department Head.
Self-service
A personal portal: today’s hours, clock pairs, weekly timesheet, and requests. Admin navigation is hidden; guarded URLs return 403.
Workflow
Hardware stays with the access control devices. This module owns the day: ingest, calculate, scope, approve, export.
Access control devices capture IN/OUT. This product does not manage visitor access or firmware.
Webhooks land in punch logs. Rapid duplicates inside a configured window are ignored. Reader maps decide which devices count as IN vs OUT.
The rules engine scores the day: full/half thresholds, round-up (before / next / nearest), sandwich auto-absent, pre/post-shift OT, weekly offs and holidays.
One /attendance route. Employee sees self. Section Admin sees the department. Super Admin sees the campus with filters. Hierarchy Manager sees reports.
Missing punches and late/early flags land in an inbox. Approvals close the loop. CSV export is for payroll systems — this module does not run payroll.

A single grid that respects session scope. Identifying columns hide for employees.
Code, name, email, photo, joining/leaving dates, gender, address — mapped to university, building, department, designation, and synced toward the access control devices.
Day, night, flexi, and rotational rosters. Department-scoped. Max continuous hours across 24h+ windows.
Categories per department. Punch selection, round-up, sandwich absent, OT after threshold, comp-off caps, late/early vs company timing.
Holidays and weekly offs feed auto-absent and OT-on-off-day logic.
Employees request. Managers approve. Approved leave shows on the attendance view.
On-the-fly calculation as events arrive. Processing status for operators who need to know the queue is live.
Exception inbox, pending approvals, and CSV export. Attendance data out — compensation stays elsewhere.
Only Super Admin mutates university structure and section definitions. Section Admins get read-only trees in their scope.
Campus tree
UI language is university / building / department. Section Admin reports to Super Admin. Section Head governs the department operationally. Reporting lines (managerId) are a separate chain.
